Tammy Abraham has been briefly linked with a return to the Premier League for a while now and Reece James' feelings on the situation are clear

Tammy Abraham has revealed that Reece James 'always' tells him to come back to Chelsea. The 25-year-old striker has been briefly linked with a return to the Premier League recently following his impressive performances for Roma.

He's scored 36 goals since swapping Stamford Bridge for the Stadio Olimpico two-years ago in a deal thought to be worth £34million. With the help of Jose Mourinho, in his first season at the club, Abraham found the net more than any other English players has ever managed in the Serie A.

With the Blues expected to be in the market for a new striker this summer, James has pleaded with Abraham to come back. However, the Cobham graduate wants to get his hands on more silverware with Roma before leaving.

Abraham won the Europa Conference League with the Italian outfit last season, and Mourinho's side have just booked themselves a place in the Europa League final after surpassing Bayer Leverkusen. In an interview with TMW, the former Chelsea striker said: "Just before I left Chelsea, [Fikayo] Tomori went to AC Milan and we talked a lot.

"I remember the phone calls, none of us could believe what was happening. We had been at Chelsea our whole lives and in a moment we were walking away.

"Everything I knew was Chelsea apart from a few loan moves. But even now I think it was the right time to leave. I was ready to take a step forward in my career, I didn't want to be considered a youngster or a player who had just come from the academy. It was time for me to spread my wings."

Then, on James' plea, Abraham added: "I still talk to so many Chelsea players, James always tells me to come back. We grew up together and have known each other for years - players like [Mason] Mount, [Declan] Rice and [Eddie] Nketiah."
