Christophe Galtier’s and Luís Campos’ PSG jobs “almost untenable”

Foot Mercato are reporting that the jobs of Paris Saint-Germain duo Christophe Galtier and Luís Campos are “almost untenable.”

After a disastrous start to 2023, Galtier’s position as PSG manager, as well as Campos’ position as sporting consultant at the club are hanging by a thread, according to Foot Mercato. Les Parisiens have already lost seven games during this calendar year, having only lost four during the whole of 2022. They are subsequently out of the Coupe de France and the UEFA Champions League, although, for now, they are on course to retain their Ligue 1 title.

Galtier is the first in the firing line, not just for the unacceptable results of recent weeks, but also due to his discourse, which has notably piled the blame on the young players at the club. El Chadaille Bitshiabu was notably criticised by Galtier for Bayern Munich’s opening goal in the second leg, and the sheer quantity of academy players in the first team for last weekend’s defeat against Rennes was used as an explanation for the disappointing result. This explanation has shocked some of the young players at the club.

However, Campos’ position is also under threat. The summer window has been considered a failure, although Campos believes that the continued importance of Antero Henrique at the club played a role in that window. However, there are no excuses for the January transfer window, during which PSG didn’t manage to get a single player through the door, despite targeting four different wingers.

The Portuguese sporting consultant, who isn’t happy with the current state of affairs at PSG, is considering his role at PSG and has been in contact with Chelsea since the start of the year.
