Harry Kane praised Raheem Sterling for his match-winning contribution as a number of the England squad reacted on Twitter to their opening-game win over Croatia at Euro 2020.
Sterling's 57th-minute strike from Kalvin Phillips' neat through-ball was enough to secure victory as the Three Lions won the first match of a Euros for the first time.
After Gareth Southgate's men held on for a morale-boosting three points, Kane took to social media to express his delight.
'Massive performance to start the Euros with a win in the sun at Wembley. @Sterling on fire. Perfect.'
Kane then also paid tribute to former Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen after he collapsed in Denmark's game against Finland on Saturday.
'Sending all my love to you @ChrisEriksen8,' Kane said along with two blue heart emojis.
Goalscorer Sterling himself tweeted: 'This one's for you guys!! We turned up. #BoyFromBrent'.
Kieran Trippier, who was a surprise choice at left back ahead of Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell, also paid tribute to former team-mate Eriksen.
'Delighted to start @EURO2020 with 3 points, a very good team performance on such a hot day, you fans were brilliant. Let’s keep this going.
'I'd also like to offer my best wishes to @ChrisEriksen8 with his recovery, we are all with you bro.'
Man of the match Kalvin Phillips said after his first major tournament appearance: 'Great way to kick off the tournament. Some team! Thank you everyone for the support.'
Jude Bellingham, who became the youngest player to appear at a major tournament, simply said: 'Great start against a decent side' followed by an England flag emoji, while Mason Mount tweeted: 'Only the start.. @England'.
Kyle Walker had slightly more to say.
'The perfect start, 3 points and a clean sheet. Well played boys. So nice to hear the @England fans singing. Let's get ourselves prepared for Friday,' he tweeted, along with three lion emojis.
Declan Rice, like Phillips, is another newcomer at international tournament level and said: 'Just getting started! Great win and performance to start the euros! The support today was incredible. Thank you @England'.
Marcus Rashford said: 'Yes boys!! On to the next one' with the England flag emoji, while Phil Foden tweeted: 'Perfect start and support was incredible!! Raz was on fire'.
Tyrone Mings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin Ben Chilwell, Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire also offered their reaction on social media.
England's next game in Group D is against Scotland next Friday at 8pm, before their final match the following Tuesday at the same time. Both matches are at Wembley.
