Liverpool fans boo the national anthem ahead of the Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

  /  autty

Liverpool supporters booed the national anthem at Wembley on Sunday ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

Harry Lineker sung God Save the King but could barely be heard as he was drowned out by noise from Liverpool fans.

Liverpool fans also booed the national anthem when it was played at Anfield last May ahead of their game against Brentford on the day of King Charles' coronation.

As explained by Dominic King, the booing of the national anthem is not about booing King Charles or any single member of the Royal Family.

The grievance of Liverpool fans is focused on the establishment, with the national anthem symbolic of their distrust.
