Arsenal are said to be keeping tabs on pacey French winger Moussa Diaby, according to reports, as the north London club prepares to compete against interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle in the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners are believed to be the front-runners in the race, but Qatar-backed French giants PSG are keen to secure the services of the player they sold to Bayer Leverkusen just four years ago.
The 23-year-old failed to settle at his boyhood club and was loaned to Crotone to play in Serie A before eventually being sold to the German outfit on a five-year deal.
But Leverkusen are likely to make an enormous return on the £13.2million (€15m) spent on the player in 2019, as this season, Diaby has been on ferocious form, scoring 13 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.
As per SportBILD, Diaby's exit this summer has been discussed within the club's hierarchy, who are looking to receive a bumper fee as high as four times his 2019 price tag for the in-demand France international.
Both Newcastle and Arsenal's attack would be well-bolstered by the arrival of one of the most accurate crossers of the ball in the Bundesliga.
The player's threat in attack is heightened by his terrific pace, which saw him rank the fastest in the league in 2022 – pipping then-Borussia Dortmund player Erling Haaland to the title.
But January investment in Leandro Trossard could see the Gunners erring on the side of caution when considering the player, as the Belgian has had an instant impact since his arrival in north London and regularly turns out for Mikel Arteta's side.
Diaby has been coy about his preferred destination next season, but spoke about his good fortune in attracting the interest of big name clubs.
'It's fun when many clubs are interested in you,' Diaby said ahead of the first leg of Leverkusen's Europa League quarter-final tie against Union Saint-Gilloise.
But, the player added: 'I'm concentrating on my season in Leverkusen. It is important to me to make progress.'
