Nottingham Forest have made £30million offer for Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
Since joining Monaco in 2018, the 24-year-old has made 140 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
He has been virtually ever-present in each of the last three seasons, and previously won the Coupe de la Ligue with Strasbourg before being a World Cup runner-up with France in 2022.
Forest also have an interest in a number of Chelsea players such as Fulham target Callum Hudson-Odoi, Trevoh Chalobah, who has a hamstring injury, and Ian Maatsen, who is wanted by West Ham and Burnley also but expected to be offered a new Chelsea contract.
Steve Cooper's side are looking to bring in at least one centre-back with Manchester City's Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Morato of Benfica also discussed.
They are hopeful of adding Arsenal's Nuno Tavares too.
Tavares has made 28 appearances for Arsenal since signing from Benfica for £8million in 2021.
The Portuguese defender spent last season on loan in France with Marseille, scoring six times in 31 league matches as he helped the club finish third in Ligue 1.
However, he does not appear to be part of Mikel Arteta's plans after returning to the Emirates.
Tavares is also reportedly a target for Bundesliga clubs Wolsburg and Werder Bremen.
