Lautaro Martinez believes Inter Milan are where they 'deserve to be' after his side secured their place in the Champions League semi-finals at the San Siro on Wednesday evening.
The Argentine scored scored a crucial second goal on the night a as Inter and Benfica played out an entertaining 3-3 in Milan, the hosts advancing due to their 2-0 victory in the first leg.
Speaking after the game Martinez told Amazon Prime Video Italy': 'I feel so happy and proud to represent this wonderful club.
'I am happy for my family, a huge hug to my brother who had a nasty knee injury, so this is for him.
'I play this sport to win everything. We are in the semi-final and that is one objective achieved, after many years this club deserves to be where we are now.'
The forward came into Wednesday's game on a nine-match goal drought but took his chance with aplomb.
'There are moments in football, sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn't,' he explained.
Inter will now face bitter rivals AC Milan in the last four in what promises to be a mouthwatering affair.
'It's a very special match. We know what it means to play a derby in the Champions League semi-final.
'However, now we must make up lost ground in Serie A and then we can think about the Champions League.'
