Tottenham boss Antonio Conte invited close friend Alessandro Del Piero to his team training on Tuesday, where the Juventus icon spoke to Spurs talisman Harry Kane.

Del Piero is in London to support the Old Lady taking on Chelsea on Tuesday night but went to visit old pal Conte and Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici for a tour of Spurs' training ground.

Kane, who is struggling for Premier League goals this season, was seen speaking to Juventus and Italy icon Del Piero in a brief conversation amid a midweek training session.

The England captain is preparing for Tottenham's Europa Conference League trip to Mura on Thursday and could do with some advice from a striker who scored 290 goals in over 700 appearances for Italian giants Juventus.

Kane has just one top-flight goal this season in 11 matches this season, despite being the Premier League's top goalscorer and assist maker last season.

Del Piero knows Conte from their time at Juventus and the Italian national team, as the pair won five Serie A titles and the 1996 Champions League together.

While Conte has moved into management, Del Piero - who was linked to the Juventus presidency when Andrea Agnelli was criticised for signing the Italian giants up to the European Super League - is yet to move into football again after retiring from playing in 2015.

But the 47-year-old has backed one of his other former Juventus team-mate, Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, to become a good replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, after the Norwegian was sacked this week.

‘I think he is taking some time off,’ Del Piero told Sky Sports. ‘Last time I spoke with him, he explained how tough it is to become a coach.

‘I’m approaching the coaching licence now as well so I see you have to be there in every aspect, to be on top of everything.

‘He told me how tough and demanding it is, in terms of timing, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

‘So he is probably taking some time off. But I don’t know. I see Zidane as a good fit for Manchester United. But I don’t know what they are looking for.’
