Saul Niguez insists he wants to end his career at Atletico Madrid.
The Spain midfielder was linked with a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona in the summer but remained at the Wanda Metropolitano as the club held on to its top stars, such as Antoine Griezmann.
Saul, who is still just 23, signed a nine-year deal back in 2017 and has made it clear that he plans to honour it.
When asked on Radio Nacional Espana if he planned to spend his entire career at Atletico, Saul answered: 'That's why I signed a long-term contract.
'That's my intention, to be at Atletico Madrid all my life, but in the world of football you never know.
'For me, yes [I want to retire at Atletico], but maybe I have a bad couple of years and then they grow to not love me anymore.'
Atletico have made a positive start to the season and sit just one point off the top of La Liga, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Apart from sitting on the bench for the comfortable 3-0 win over newly-promoted Huesca, Saul has played every minute of the season so far.
He has 12 international caps for Spain, and will be looking to add to those after he was selected by Luis Enrique for the upcoming Nations League clashes with England and Croatia.
