Last week, The Sun on Sunday published pictures of Wayne Rooney seemingly getting into a lift at a hotel in Vancouver with a "mystery woman", implying he was once again cheating on his wife.
Today, Wayne Rooney has broken his silence on pictures of him entering a hotel with another woman.
Rooney has released a statement calling out The Sun for their story, suggesting they published a story "they know" is "not true". Rooney also claims the photos were "selected and edited to create a sensational and completely untrue story about me".
Wayne tweeted: "Nothing happened between me and any girl on that night in Vancouver. I did not enter the lift alone with the girl pictured in the hotel foyer.
"The girl pictured in the club was simply one of many who innocently asked for autographs and pictures. The footballer then claimed that he had been followed by a freelance photographer without his knowledge or permission.
Calling the claims ‘completely untrue’, Wayne added: ‘The whole story was a smear against me. It is damaging to my family and not something I am prepared to put up with.’
