Luiz, Iwobi, Cancelo, Lo Celso - 10 potential PL debutants this weekend

The new Premier League season continues into its second weekend and a whole host of players are set to feature for their new clubs.

Arsenal - David Luiz

A deadline day signing that no-one saw coming. David Luiz could only make the bench for Arsenal's opening weekend win over Newcastle.

Sokratis and Calum Chambers were the centre-back pairing but with Burnley in town at the weekend, Unai Emery may be tempted to change it up.

Luiz offers both experience and quality, though it will take time to adjust to seeing him in the red and white of Arsenal instead of the blue of Chelsea.

Brighton - Aaron Mooy

This one doesn't take too much adjusting - we're pretty accustomed to seeing Aaron Mooy in a blue and white shirt.

This time it's Brighton though, not Huddersfield.

He was an unused substitute in the 3-0 win at  Watford and will be keen to get his first piece of action for his new club against West Ham on Saturday.

Crystal Palace - Gary Cahill

A place on the bench was all Gary Cahill could be afforded in the stalemate with Everton.

Martin Kelly and Scott Dann combined to keep a clean sheet but Roy Hodgson is unlikely to have brought in the hugely-experienced Cahill to sit on the sidelines.

The 33-year-old still has plenty of miles left on the clock and the Palace boss could be tempted to throw straight into the action at Sheffield United.

Everton - Alex Iwobi

Another surprising move on deadline day saw Alex Iwobi swap north London for Merseyside.

With Everton struggling for goals and drawing a blank in their opener at Selhurst Park, Marco Silva is sure to send for the Nigerian international.

He has already outlined that he plans to play him on the left and could look to do so with the visit of Watford on Saturday.

Liverpool - Andy Lonergan

Snapped up on a free transfer after deadline day following injury to first-choice Alisson, the 35-year-old journeyman has now been thrust further into the limelight.

Super Cup hero Adrian suffered an ankle injury amid the celebrations of the dramatic shootout victory and looks set to miss the trip to Southampton.

His last appearance came in Rochdale's 3-1 win over Scunthorpe in League One in March. St Mary's on Saturday will be very different.

Manchester City - Joao Cancelo

Signed as a back-up option to Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo remained on the bench in the 5-0 win over West Ham last Saturday.

The 25-year-old was only at Juventus for a season and has become a regular at international level for Portugal.

Tottenham visit the Etihad for City's first home game of the season and Pep Guardiola is not averse to a spot of rotation - even in the big games.

Sheffield United - Ravel Morrison

Once described as the best 14-year-old he had ever seen, by no less a figure than Sir Alex Ferguson, it has not wholly worked out for Ravel Morrison.

Sheffield United have taken a punt on the hotshot, who is back in England after a nomadic career that has taken him to Italy, Mexio and Sweden.

Now 26, if he is ready to finally knuckle down then Chris Wilder has a gem on his hands who could offer something different against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Tottenham - Giovani lo Celso

Another move late in the window saw Tottenham bring in the Argentine schemer on a season-long loan from Real Betis with an option to buy.

The midfielder will offer creativity and guile, something Spurs could have done with as they toiled on the opening day against Aston Villa.

After a week of training with his new team-mates, Mauricio Pochettino will hope he can make room for him in his squad of 18.

Watford - Danny Welbeck

An ankle injury suffered last November scuppered Welbeck's 2018-19 season.

Having been released by Arsenal in the summer he spent much of the window looking for a new club, with Watford swooping at the eleventh hour.

The 28-year-old will be looking to make up for lost time, but Javi Gracia will want him to prove his fitness before gambling on him from the start.

Wolves - Jesus Vallejo

Having made just seven appearances for Real Madrid last season, centre-back Vallejo is being eased into life at Wolves.

He did not feature on the opening weekend at Leicester but played in Thursday night's Europa League qualifying win over Pyunik.

Whether he can dislodge the established defensive pairing of Conor Coady and Willy Boly remains to be seen but he will be ready if called upon.
