Mike Maignan 'is NOT interested in joining Chelsea after they missed out on Europe'

Chelsea look to have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper this summer, with Mike Maignan reportedly not keen on a move.

The French stopper has starred for AC Milan this season, and has been making a case to be considered among the leading players in his position in Europe.

At 27 years old, Maignan is not yet in his prime as a goalkeeper and will only improve with age, and has been attracting plenty of interest in his services.

However, Foot Mercato claims that the player is unwilling to join the west London side, who have failed to ensure qualification to one of UEFA's three continental cup competitions.

AC Milan could be in for a summer of change, after Paulo Maldini was sacked as sporting director - a move that reportedly left Maignan considering his future at the San Siro.

Whether he intends to remain at the Champions League semi-finalists in the wake of the legendary defender's departure remains to be seen.

The Blues are thought to have already approached the Rossoneri over a possible deal, but the goalkeeper was believed not to have been interested.

Milan have qualified for the Champions League, and with three years left on his contract there is plenty of incentive to remain at the club for at least another season, although it is as yet unclear what direction the Rossoneri will take this summer.

The city of Milan is also home to another goalkeeper strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, with Inter's Andre Onana also linked to the club.

The Cameroonian stopper is believed to be of interest to Mauricio Pochettino's side, who are looking to rebuild with their squad becoming bloated after Todd Boehly's £600million splurge across the previous two windows.

Champions League finalist Onana has been linked with a swap deal to join Chelsea, which would potentially see two players move in the opposite direction.

The players connected are Kalidou Koulibaly and Romelu Lukaku, currently at the San Siro on loan after a woeful first season at Chelsea, having arrived from the Nerazzurri.

Onana outperformed Maignan this term, lifting a Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana double as well as a runners-up medal from Europe's premier competition.

The Cameroonian stopper managed as many clean sheets in Serie A (eight), as well as six more than Maignan's tally (two) in the Champions League, and another three across Italy's two cup competitions.

Foot Mercato suggest that the Inter keeper is valued at around £50m, and are believed to be open to a sale in order to balance the books.

The Blues have also been linked with Illan Meslier of Leeds, although the Frenchman is believed to be reluctant to move to west London if it means that he will not take on the No 1 role.

Chelsea currently have the likes of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga at the club, although their pursuit of a new stopper suggests that at least one of those will be moved on.
