Paolo Maldini has agreed to become Milan’s new technical director, with Coach Marco Giampaolo to follow from Sampdoria.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports Maldini has accepted Milan’s offer, which will see him replace Leonardo in charge of the club’s technical area.

Assisting him will be head of youth operations Angelo Carbone and chief scout Geoffrey Moncada, as well as a sporting director in the mould of Lazio’s Igli Tare.

The newspaper concludes Giampaolo will replace Gennaro Gattuso as he has ‘the required characteristics’ to coach the Rossoneri and has already informed Samp of his desire to move on.
