Mauricio Pochettino's Blues are back in action when they play AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup second round after beating Luton Town 3-0 in the Premier League on Friday night
Chelsea are back in action when they play AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino's Blues will welcome another home game as they look to build some momentum after a fine 3-0 defeat of Luton Town on Friday night. Raheem Sterling scored twice and Nicolas Jackson was also among the goals as Pochettino tasted success as a Chelsea manager for the first time following a loss at West Ham United and draw with Liverpool on the opening day of the season.
It is unclear as of yet whether Chelsea's match will even be shown live at all, with SuperSport 2 Albania HD listing the game as being broadcast but no official word as of yet. The EFL allows club streaming services to broadcast matches domestically and abroad when they are played in midweek but there is no such provision for Carabao Cup games.
The only way Chelsea or Wimbledon fans based in the UK will be able to watch any action from the match will be on Sky Sports News' Soccer Special programme, with the broadcaster showing goals as they go in and any key moments. Chelsea boss Pochettino, meanwhile, is likely to ring the changes for Wimbledon with academy players expected to be drafted in.
"We are thinking to start with 11 players that can perform in the way that we want," Pochettino said. "(We want to be) right in our assessment, in our risk because you have many injuries and the squad is not big at the moment.
"We are going to use four or five young guys from the academy - 17 years old, 16 years old - but Chelsea has always produced good talent, young kids and now is a good opportunity. "It is not because it is our philosophy at the moment, it is because we need to bring young guys to the first team because we have some players that cannot play tomorrow.
"But I think it should be good to create the possibility for the young guys to be part of the project, part of producing players for the first team because the Academy and the coaches there are working so hard. "For a club like Chelsea, it is always good to have players from the Academy that can translate the identity of the club."
