Arsenal could lose summer transfer battle as EPL star 'says yes' to move

Manchester City are weighing up a move for Real Madrid's Rodrygo - who has been on Arsenal's radar all summer - as they look to replace Tottenham target DSAivnho

Manchester City could make moves for Rodrygo late in the transfer window as they look to fill potential gaps left by Savinho and Jack Grealish - who are both in talks to leave the Etihad.

The Real Madrid forward has seen his future be front and centre throughout the summer and could still depart the Bernabeu. Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Brazilian, who has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Xabi Alonso in the dugout.

They haven't acted yet and are also keeping tabs on Eberechi Eze, which could now open the door for Pep Guardiola and City to make a move. Rodrygo is valued at £87million and would be a blockbuster signing for those on the blue side of Manchester.

AS have reported that Rodrygo felt undervalued last season and has not been a regular starter under new manager Alonso during the Club World Cup and pre-season, leaving him to assess whether or not to pursue pastures new.

City could be well armed financially to make a move, especially if Savinho makes a move to Tottenham. Globo reports that the Brazilian has given the green light to the move and now wants negotiations to accelerate as he looks to find a new home in north London.

Guardiola only signed Savinho last summer, bringing in the winger from Troyes, but he made a positive impact and the Manchester outfit are loathed to sell. It means it will take a hefty offer from those at Tottenham before City are prepared to offload the 21-year-old.

Grealish too is closing on a move away from the Etihad after falling down the pecking order. He is set to join Everton on loan and City want to recoup the bulk of his £300,000-a-week wages - which could take Everton’s outlay to more than £12m once a loan fee is accounted for.

City have made some shrewd additions in the final third this summer in an effort to recover from their worst season since 2016/17, but signing Rodrygo would be their headline capture. The Real man has scored 50 times across the last three campaigns and won the Champions League.

Already on the blue half of Manchester they have bought in Rayan Cherki from Lyon. The highly-rated Tijjani Reijnders is City's most expensive signing, joining from AC Milan, with Rayan Ait-Nouri also making the move from Wolves.
