Barcelona and Arsenal 'at transfer war' for Lyon midfielder Aouar

Barcelona have reportedly increased their interest in Houssem Aouar after Tuesday's goalless draw against Lyon in the Champions League.

According to L'Equipe, Barça have even contacted the player recently to try and convince him to join them, which isn't an easy task given how many clubs are keen on the midfielder.

Aouar, who has revealed that he learned to play the game watching videos of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, is wanted by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Unai Emery's Arsenal are the most interested. However, in France they say his admiration for Barça could be key when it comes to making a decision on his future -- which could be in the summer.

Arsenal have followed Aouar for a while and are now more keen than ever to do a deal following confirmation that Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus in the summer.

Manchester City are also following the midfielder. Pep Guardiola personally congratulated him for his performance when the two teams met in the Champions League group stages earlier this season.

In any case, signing Aouar will not be easy. Even though Barça and Lyon have a good relationship following the deal for Samuel Umtiti, he has a contract until 2023 and will not come cheap.
