Barcelona have been in contract extension talks with Jules Kounde for several weeks, with all parties optimistic despite interest from Manchester City.
According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, negotiations between Barcelona and the 26-year-old have been ongoing for “several weeks” and all parties are confident a deal will be struck.
Barcelona are understood to consider Kounde as the best in the world in his position and want to give him a new deal that will reflect that valuation.
Manchester City are interested, however, with Pep Guardiola keen to sign the France international as a replacement for the now departed Kyle Walker.
The report adds that another unnamed ‘top club’ has also made an inquiry for the defender who made 53 appearances last season.
