On July 24th, according to Bild, Yan Diomande has deleted a large amount of RB Leipzig-related content from his social media accounts, prompting speculation about his future.
Although the player maintains a good relationship with the club, he has become a target for several European giants. Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all monitoring him. Leipzig are demanding at least €120 million and hope to keep him by extending his contract, but internally there are already doubts about the prospects of him staying.
At present, 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande is still expected to return to training with Leipzig next week, although the club has not announced a specific date for his return. However, a recent change on his social media accounts has sparked speculation about his future.
Diomande's personal social media account gained followers rapidly during the World Cup, and he now has 1.1 million followers, three times as many as before. However, he has now deleted the vast majority of content related to Leipzig.
Currently, only 32 posts remain on his account, with just four of them still related to Leipzig.
Does this mean a transfer storm is brewing?
A similar situation also occurred last summer with former RB Leipzig player Xavi Simons. At the time, Simons, who was eager to leave the club, removed information related to RB Leipzig from his social media bio, which was seen externally as a sign that he no longer identified himself as belonging to the club.
However, Diomande is not a player who causes trouble. It is understood that Leipzig not only helped him make a breakthrough in his career, but also supported him when his mother was seriously ill, so he has always been grateful to the club. A year ago, it was at Leipzig that his career truly began to take off. Both on and off the pitch, Diomande has left the impression of being humble and friendly.
But at the same time, he has now become one of the focal points of the European transfer market.
According to Bild, at least five major clubs are currently monitoring the winger, including PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
As things stand, this transfer is highly likely to turn into a bidding war. Leipzig’s asking price is at least €120 million. Diomande’s own preferred destination is Paris Saint-Germain. According to reports, he has already reached an agreement with PSG on a contract running until 2031, but Paris have yet to submit a formal offer to Leipzig.
It is understood that Diomande’s entourage, along with the powerful agency Roc Nation Sports, are putting pressure on Paris to clarify their position as soon as possible and push for formal negotiations with Leipzig, in order to prevent other clubs from stealing a march.
Leipzig, meanwhile, still hope to convince Diomande to renew his contract. The club plan to extend his deal beyond 2030 and keep him for at least one more season.
However, according to German media, more and more people within Leipzig no longer believe that Diomande will be able to stay at the club.
