City up their interest in Guehi; Could move to sign him NOW ahead of Liverpool

Manchester City are exploring the possibility of signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this month.

Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias were injured on Sunday and City have already recalled Max Alleyne from his loan at Watford.

However, Guehi is on their summer wish list and they will check the parameters of getting a deal done in this window.

Liverpool retain interest but have been inclined to wait until the summer which is what Palace had planned for.

However, an offer now would give Palace the chance to make money on their captain.

Guehi is leaving Palace in the summer and City have decided they want to be part of the conversation for the England international.

They believe they can beat rivals to Guehi if they go in hard now - with a view that the extra cost would be outweighed by the rewards if he can make a difference to their Premier League title challenge.

City sit six points behind Arsenal after Enzo Fernandez's late equaliser denied them the maximum points against Chelsea in Sunday's 1-1 draw.

Speaking on Sunday, Guardiola admitted injuries are a worry for him. 'Of course I have concerns,' he said. 'Have you seen the bench today? Four players from the academy and now we will have more. We don't have players.'

He added: 'We have a lot [of injuries]. John Stones is missing for I don't know how many months. Ruben now will be out, Josko will be out. Nathan, always we know with Nathan he cannot play regularly. It's the situation.

'Stay strong and we will find a solution. The spirit is there and will be there.'

Regarding Gvardiol, Guardiola said: 'We'll see tomorrow [Monday], it doesn't look good. Him and Ruben, we'll see what happens. I didn't speak to the doctor, but if Ruben is out it's because he felt something.'
