Palace interested in signing Celtic striker Edouard in January for £20m (Sun)

Crystal Palace's downfall so far in 2019/20 has been their finishing - but a £20million January swoop for hot-shot Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard could make the difference for Roy Hodgson's side.

The only team with fewer goals than Palace so far are 18th placed Watford - with the Selhurst Park side netting just 10 in 12 games. Striker Jordan Ayew has four of those, but Christian Benteke and Wilfred Zaha are still goalless.

According to the Sun, in-form Edouard is Hodgson's first-choice as a solution to a long-held striking problem in South London - with defensive midfielder Luka Milivojevic ending last season Palace's highest scorer in the top-flight, on 12 goals.

Frenchman Edouard already has eight goals in 11 Scottish Premiership games so far, contributing five assists along the way for the champions.

The 21-year-old former PSG striker could command a heavy price tag, though - with Celtic keen to hold on to the talent for their Europa League push.

The French under-21 international arrived in Glasgow for £9million in the summer of 2018 after a year's loan. He has gradually improved - netting 14 times in last season's SPL - and hitting full-stride this season.

The Eagles, meanwhile, have fallen from the giddy heights of an early top six position down to 12th - with a tough four game winless run featuring losses to Manchester City, Chelsea and Leicester.

Hodgson has money to play with in January, with the profits from the £50million sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United this summer un-used.
